Job Overview

\n

SJKP, LLP is seeking an experienced Intake Attorney to serve as a key point of contact for prospective clients at our New York office.

\n

\n

The primary focus of this position is legal consultation and client intake. The ideal candidate should possess broad legal knowledge across multiple practice areas, quickly identify client needs and risks and recommend appropriate legal solutions.

\n

\n

A critical component of this role is the ability to clearly communicate the value of the Firm's services, build trust with prospective clients and convert qualified consultations into retained matters. The successful candidate must combine sound legal judgment with strong interpersonal, persuasion and client relationship skills.

\n

\n

Depending on consultation volume and the Firm's operational needs, the attorney may also assist with substantive legal matters within the attorney's areas of competence and experience.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Conduct consultations across Corporate, Criminal Defense, Family Law, Real Estate, Employment, Immigration and other matters handled by the Firm by phone, video conference and in person.
  • \n
  • Identify prospective clients' legal needs, assess preliminary risks and determine whether matters are appropriate for representation.
  • \n
  • Facilitate engagement agreement execution and transition retained matters to the appropriate attorneys.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate consultation records and timely follow up.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth intake, communication and matter transition.
  • \n
  • Assist with substantive legal work as needed based on consultation volume, qualifications and operational needs.

Required Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • \n
  • Active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar. Admission to one or more additional U.S. jurisdictions is strongly preferred.
  • \n
  • Broad working knowledge across multiple areas of U.S. law.
  • \n
  • Strong ability to build client trust, identify legal needs, communicate the Firm’s value proposition, and convert scheduled consultations into retained matters.
  • \n
  • Proven track record of achieving strong consultation-to-retainer conversion rates in a law firm, professional services, or comparable client-facing environment.
  • \n
  • Ability to manage a high volume of consultations efficiently while maintaining professionalism and responsiveness.
  • \n
  • Strong judgment regarding matter qualification, client expectations and legal risk.
  • \n

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience across multiple practice areas.
  • \n
  • Experience working with international clients or cross border matters.
  • \n
  • Experience with Clio or similar practice management systems.
  • \n
  • Strong adaptability and ability to operate effectively within a dynamic international organization while collaborating closely with the Firm's headquarters and leadership.
  • \n
  • Fluency in Korean is highly desired.

Initial Training & Onboarding (Tentative)

\n

Attorneys hired for our U.S. offices will initially work for approximately one week at the U.S. office, followed by approximately one week of short term training at our headquarters in Korea. After completing the training, attorneys will return to the U.S. office and continue their regular duties.

Salary & Compensation

\n

Base Salary: $130,000 to $300,000

\n

Compensation is commensurate with experience, qualifications and demonstrated capabilities.

\n

Performance and client engagement incentives are provided separately from base salary.

\n
